Technically speaking, the additional features are XML files that make certain settings and create objects, such as folders, including user rights, evaluations, report templates, scripts and process automations. Likewise, certain processes, such as the sale of licenses or a folder structure specifically for the management of events can be implemented. The additional features thus expand existing basic functions and/or add new features.

You can find an overview of all the additional features here.

Important notes before importing

There are a couple things to consider before importing a config set:

  1. As additional features impact all of Vertec, they can only be imported by administrators.
  2. It is risky to remove imported config sets in a productive Vertec. Therefore, you should only import config sets into your productive Vertec that you have previously installed on a test system. If you are unsure whether the respective config set fits your environment, talk to your Vertec advisor.
  3. Depending on the additional feature, there are requirements that must be met in order to work with it as described. These can be found in the respective articles in the Requirements and download section, and here in the overview. You can import unsuitable additional features, but cannot fully use them afterwards.
  4. The additional features can be used independently of each other. If existing structures of Vertec are used (for example, a folder in which certain structures are saved), they are only created again if they do not yet exist. Otherwise, the existing ones are used. This also applies to structures that have already been created by another config set.

Importing or removing additional features

Download the desired additional feature for free in the respective articles and store it on your file system. Log in as administrator in Vertec (additional features can be imported into all full-featured apps) and import the additional features via the config set dialog.

You have the option of either removing or deleting config sets. If you choose delete, all the objects associated with the config set are deleted; whereas if you choose remove, all the objects remain in the system.

Note: Re-importing an already imported additional feature overwrites any changes you made to scripts or list settings (see below).

The exact import process is described in Articles about the config sets.

New versions of additional features

From time to time, we release new versions of the config sets with improvements or feature enhancements. If you have already imported a previous version of the config set, it is not straightforward to import a new version.

  • All the adjustments you have made to list settings, class settings, scripts, links and custom fields are lost.
  • No objects that were included in the old version of the config set and that would interfere in the new version are deleted during the import. Therefore, legacy loads may remain in the system.

Nevertheless, if you still want to use the new version, you should contact your Vertec advisor, who will conduct a detailed analysis in order to retrofit the new features if necessary.
