Conflict check: Exclude conflicts of interest directly

Extend Vertec easily. That’s what additional features are all about. In just a few clicks, you can add more functionality to your Vertec installation. Depending on the additional feature, they either extend certain basic features or they expand the functionality by adding a completely new feature. Either way, a free added value for you.

Additional features are technically XML files that are imported, such as setting up specific folder structures including user rights, evaluations, report templates, scripts and process automations, or implementing additional features with add-on classes and custom field items.

To accept a case – or not?

Our additional Additional Feature “Conflict Check” already offers you added value where the legal work has not yet begun: It helps to answer the elementary question of whether or not a conflict of interest exists in the event of a possible assignment. No time-consuming research is required.

With Vertec as a Law Firm Management Software, you can quickly and easily carry out conflict checks and save valuable time.

What is known in Switzerland as a “conflict check” is commonly known in Germany as a “collision check”.

Requirements and functionality

• Additional classes 18 and 19 may not yet be in use

If the additional feature is installed, a page “Mandate opening with conflict check” appears on the respective case. In order to be able to perform a conflict check, the next step is to define the counterparty or counterparties on this page.

A subsequent click on the button “New Conflict Check” opens the window of the same name, in which the following data can be checked for possible conflicts:

• Client
• Honorary note address
• ordering party
• Previously assigned counterparty)
• If the additional feature is installed, Invoice Splitting note recipients are assigned a mandatecase An additional field with the corresponding addresses for invoice splitting.

In addition, two additional fields are available: In “Additional Address” you can search for such an address. The field “Search Term” allows you to enter a free-text term that is searched for in addresses and interweaving. In addition, you can optionally select checkboxes to expand or restrict the search for possible conflicts.

Clicking on the button “Perform conflict check” starts the search in which the fields “Interweaving” and “Interweaving counterparty” are searched on all active and inactive cases. In addition, all existing clients and counterparty are searched.

Conflict overview

An overview of the search results is provided by the subfolder “Results Conflict Check,” which is created under “Conflict Check”. Each search result has its own row and colour marking. Red means critical, green not critical and yellow means a result should be checked again.

The next step is to decide whether to accept or reject a case. This is done again on the page “Mandate opening with conflict check” shown at the beginning. Under “Decision,” a checkbox can be ticked. The respective user, as well as the date and time are logged.
In the text fields below “Interweaving” and “Interweaving counterparty” you can enter terms that may play a Role for possible interweaving in future mandate openings.

Conflict check history

If you want to perform several conflict checks, a new conflict check must also be created for each new search. Practical: Each conflict check performed is automatically documented. For this purpose, the “Result conflict check” page is created on the respective case, and all conflict checks performed on this case are logged there.
