Highlights of the Vertec User Conference 2021

Digitalization in the paper mill – that could have been the motto for this year’s Vertec User Conference. After 2019, our customer event finally took place again as a face-to-face event. Around 160 participants made their way to the Alte Sihlpapierfabrik Zurich on November 18, 2021.

After welcoming the audience, Urs Berli (Sales Manager) and Volker Schwarzer (Managing Director, Vertec group) briefly looked back on developments between 2019 and 2021. Emphasis was placed on the 25th anniversary of the Vertec group, the launch of the Customer Portal and the Vertec Academy. A real milestone that makes us particularly proud: Since autumn 2021, Vertec has more than 1,111 customers.

1. Highlights from Release 6.5

Speaker: Tobias Wielki, Managing Director Vertec GmbH Deutschland

Vertec 6.5 is this year’s major release, which has been available for Download since September 2021. The latest Vertec version offers deeper Outlook integration with the Vertec Outlook App. Tobias explained how the app integrates Vertec and Outlook so that relevant information from Vertec can be shown and edited directly in Outlook.

Appropriately, Tobias showed how opportunities can be used to depict the sales process in Vertec in detail. Opportunities bridge the gap between the first contact with a potential customer and the creating of a project.

2. When Everyday Life Comes In: Zühlke & Vertec After Falling in Love

Speaker: Amadeo Vergés, Head of Application Management (until end of August 2024), Zühlke Engineering AG

Vertec and Zühlke are now celebrating their 13th “wedding anniversary.” So the damned seventh year has already passed. But how do you manage to continue a “marriage” happily and to the satisfaction of both parties? Amadeo Vergés explored this question in his talk brought forward and pointed out many possibilities.

Since 2008, Zühlke has been using Vertec as its central data source. The first, essential challenge: interface connections. This requires good friends, such as Vertec project managers, who are honest and supportive of the relationship. Maintain the relationship and the data in the system. “Don’t let go of the reins!” Vergés strongly recommends at this point. This includes documentation and HR training. Over the years, relationships change, new wishes and expectations arise. Therefore, be open to change and rely on continuous change management.

3. Knowledge workers in matrix organization – how Vertec is advancing BAK Economics

Speaker: Marc Bros de Puechredon, CEO, BAK Economics AG

“No, we’ll buy it!” Sometimes it doesn’t take a long time to make a decision, but rather the recommendation of competitors. This is how Marc Bros de Puechredon describes his decision to rely on Vertec when it comes to business software. Previously, many business processes were carried out using Excel. The new approach leads to a single sign-on platform for all internal processes.

4. Future-proof Vertec installation and roadmap

Speakers: Claudio Pietra, Managing Director Vertec group and Samuel Iseli, Development Manager

In addition to new features, customization options, cloud capability, performance and security are the key criteria for the further continuous improvement and future-proofing of our software.

With Vertec into the future, but safely. Claudio presented a 10-point plan for this. In two columns, it contrasts the issues on which you should rely in your Vertec installation in the future. Of particular importance was the question of how to best secure a Vertec installation. Claudio illustrated this with the security of Dover Castle.

Samuel Iseli then explained in detail the planned continuous improvements for version 6.6 on the basis of the roadmap.
