The land register and the cantonal survey are used to secure land ownership in the state of Basel-Stadt. The GVA also coordinates the state’s geodata and makes it available via interactive maps on the geoportal.
The wide-ranging functional domain also includes the leadership of the land register and the register of public ownership restrictions, the registration of Rhine vessels and Swiss seagoing vessels, the calculation of property values and value-added taxes, the updating of the city plan as well as departmental informatics and digitization.
