Type 1 or Type 2? How to Test Vertec the Right Way

What's the best way to test business software? Is a rough overview of the product enough? Or do you want to try out every process once? There is no one-size-fits-all answer. But this much is clear: It also depends on the size of your company and the complexity of your business processes.

Test it yourself or learn from demo

Over the years, we have noticed that, when it comes to learning about software, there are two types of people.

  1. Type 1 wants to try out the software for themselves, undisturbed.
  2. Type 2 wants someone to walk them through the software and explain it.

At Vertec, we cater for both types of learners.  You can choose from the free 30-day test or a personal demo appointment.

Opportunities and limitations in 30-day test

For many years, it has been possible to test Vertec in the cloud around the clock. Sign up for a test license, log in, and start learning. 30 days for free, no credit card details required. The test ends automatically. Wonderful. With access to around 600 articles from the Knowledge Base, the AI chatbot, and many Youtube videos, you can immerse yourself deep into the world of over 1,200 Vertec customers.

Sounds like a lot of opportunities, right? Yes, many of those interested were able to get an idea of the software with the 30-day test. The look and feel, performance and design of Vertec are best perceived when you "touch” it.

What you can test – and what you can’t

You can get to know the following aspects of Vertec in the self-guided test:

  • Look and feel of the user interface
  • Software design, with menu navigation, input fields, display of data etc.
  • Standard processes such as creating contacts, time tracking, expense management, creating quotes, etc.

That’s a lot for a first impression. You can try all this out around the clock, without any installation. But where are the limits?

What's not easy to test: How your current processes would work in Vertec

Vertec is a hit with customers thanks to the software's adaptability to business processes. Such adaptations are the result of intensive, joint thinking. In pre-projects and main projects, the requirements are analyzed and translated into your individual Vertec configuration. The introduction of a new business software is a great opportunity for you to rethink processes and refine them. During the 30-day test, you use Vertec “out of the box”. Vertec can do a lot more than what you see in the test. This may be frustrating. But an individual business software needs to be developed together. We explain the process from pre-project to go-live in our craft.

Examples of individual, non-testable processes are:

  • Individual, multi-stage approval processes
  • Processing of incoming invoices
  • Inter-company charging

The larger and more complex your company is, the more difficult it is to conduct a self-guided test. Your company inevitably has different processes than a small team of 20 people.

Data migration

Migrating data from legacy systems to Vertec is indispensable in most projects, and requires careful planning. The migration of root data and dynamic data is almost always possible. However, this cannot be simulated meaningfully in a short test. We are happy to discuss the concept with you in the pre-project.

How to achieve reliable testing

So how do you get really robust test results?

Are you type 1? The self-tester? Gain an initial impression of Vertec in the 30-day test. Keep in mind that you will “only” see the standard range of functions. Afterwards, book a free demo and let us show you everything that remains hidden in the self-guided test.

Are you type 2? You prefer to be shown the software? We recommend you go straight to the booking calendar and schedule your individual demo appointment. After the demo, you will have a good overview and maybe will feel confident enough to try Vertec on your own.

No matter what type of person you are, the best way to achieve a truly robust test in the context of your business processes is as part of a pre-project. Here, we implement a few critical processes in a prototype and create a comprehensive implementation concept for you. In addition, a dedicated project manager with industry know-how and Vertec knowledge will be on hand to answer the many detailed questions that arise. This saves you a lot of time. The Vertec software, which has been customized for you, is only available from go-live. Only then will you recognize the full potential of Vertec to meet your individual needs.
